In 2016 and 2019 Nicolle was elected to represent the Liberal Party in the Commonwealth Parliament as the federal Member for Boothby.  She retired prior to the 2022 election.

Before being elected to Parliament she was a newspaper columnist for The Advertiser newspaper and The Age newspaper, worked as a Policy Adviser to Liberal Leaders, and as Director of Corporate Relations at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Nicolle appears regularly on Sky News, and has written hundreds of columns that have been published by Sky News, The Advertiser, The Australian, Herald Sun, Daily Telegraph, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, ABC and Spectator Australia.  She is the co-author, with Nick Cater, of three editions of Gender and Politics, Menzies Research Centre, and contributed Chapter 1 ‘Menzies’ miracle?  The Foundation of the Liberal Party of Australia’ to Zachary Gorman’s (Ed.) book, The Menzies Watershed: Liberalism, Anti-communism, Continuities 1943-1954, Melbourne University Press, 2023.
